The 7961 uses the new

The 7961 uses the new configuration files that the 7970 uses and not the same configuration files as the 7960? Please confirm so we can make appropriate changes to the endpoint manager.

cisco mac addresses

Cisco uses lots of different mac ranges for their phones. Can you post the first 3 octets of your phones with model numbers? Here is what I have already.

00 03 6B - 7960 and 7970
00 0D 29 - 7970
00 17 0E - 7971

Kerry: Yes the 7940/60 and 7941/61 use different config files. The 7971 files work for the 7941/61's

The 7961s use the single

The 7961s use the single configuration file. SEPMACADDRESS.conf.xml

I'll try the 7971 config and get back to you. Also is there a way to edit the setup-cisco and setup-aastra scipts to use a dns name instead of the ip address? Would make it easier for phones outside the network that still connect to the server to pull config files. I use the aastras to logon via ftp and pull configs over the WAN. It's also great for wireless phones that roam as they resolve the DNS name to ip address based on what network they are on!

I know it's a simple edit of the master config file but it would be nice if the script just did it for you. I'm not a script kiddy or I would do it myself. MAYBE I NEED TO START STUDYIN!!

Don't forget to edit the file!

You will need to edit the file that is created to change the firmware load from the 7970/71 to the 7961 so that your phone won't try to load 797x firmware.

While I'm not sure if the phone with actually try to load the incorrect firmware and/or brick itself since I am not brave enough to have tried it WITHOUT editing the file, I have had good luck with the 7941/61 loading the correct SIP firmware when I have done this.

If anyone can add to these

If anyone can add to these lists it would be greatly appreciated so we can fine tune the detection scripts for both CE and Pro:

I'll be back in the office later today and I'll pull Mine for you. Are you just wanting the first 3 HEX numbers?

Another 7941G

Cisco 7941g: 00 07 0E

I can also confirm that I used the endpoint manager to create the file (from the 7970 template) and then went and edited it to load the correct sip firmware for the 7941g.... Works very well, I might add.

Cisco 7940 Mac

Everyone may already know this, but the first three octects of the MAC appear to be different based on HW revision (the far-left sticker on the back). Further, there seem to be significantly different HW revision numbers for the same model.

For example, my oldest 7940 phones have show 68-1735-05 Rev.A0. The MACs for these all start with 00-0B-B?. Below is a table of all the different HW rev/MAC combos we have:

68-1735-05 Rev.A0 00-0B-BE
68-1735-05 Rev.A0 00-0B-BF
68-1735-11 Rev.A0 00-13-C3
68-1735-11 Rev.A0 00-13-C4
68-2684-01 H0* 00-1D-A2

The last line is a group of new 7940's purchased from The Telecom Spot just a few weeks ago. I was surprised how different the HW number is from the older ones. The older ones were previously used and purchased in two different batches, so I have no idea when they were originally purchased.
