Voice Mail or IVR hangup holds zap channel open
Hi James,
Thank you for the suggestions getting the last bugs out of my recent Install.
After upgrading the system with yum, upgrading to FreePBX 2.4, installing the latest Rhino updates/firmware DID+Zap channel routing has the incoming calls routing correctly.
I am however seeing a new issue.
Any caller that hangs up on any recorded message (voicemail or IVR) holds the zap channel open forever! I unlocked one channel using FOP had listed as live for 5 hours!
My provider is Bell Canada. Has anyone else identified this? Is there a workaround?
Thanks!
Dwayne
This morning channel 3 was locked open recording a message for over 70 min. The caller had long since hung up. I can cause channel 4 to lock open anytime by calling, waiting for the IVR and hanging up during the message. Sometimes it plays the message 3 times and exits, other times it plays 3 times and locks.
Has anyone confirmed any of this? Is there any work around?
Dwayne
Barge the channel and see what you hear. Is it a busy signal or silence? You can use busydetect to close the line if you hear a busy signal. Be very careful with it as it can also sometime cause false hangups. Here is a well documented zapata.conf that has the busydetect settings in it for reference.

A better fix is to find out if your telco supports answer/disconnect supervision. I often have to call 3 or 4 times before I get a rep that knows what that is. If their switch supports that feature, your problems will disappear.
