480i CT cordless handset places callers on hold
I just wanted to see if anyone has also experienced this problem or has any ideas. I have a 480i CT and mostly when I receive a call the line gets placed on hold about a minute or two into the conversation. At first I thought that it was happening because of another call coming in on the other line but that is not the case. In an effort to fix the problem and just for the heck of it I have upgraded to trixbox 2.2, replaced my router, and upgraded the base-station's firmware. The only thing that has stayed constant with this problem is the handset but I'm just not sure that it is causing the problem itself. My next step is to contact aastra but that would probably mean I have to buy a new handset.
I've got half a dozen 480i CT phones, and have had reports of intermittant 'holds'. After doing a bit out troubleshooting, it seems that the problem was that some people were holding the cordless handset very hard to their heads in order to hear better... and accidently pressing the line1/line2 buttons. Our warehouse is next to a train yard, and we sell/install sound systems... so the warehouse can get quite loud on occasion.

That's funny. My wife lets me do whatever I want with our phones as long as it does not inconvenience her so this situation has made her very mad. To add to her frustration I thought the very same thing at first but it has happened to me regularly and I'm sure that it wasn't from hitting a button. She has not complained since I changed the two call support option to off so I am crossing my fingers that that was it.
Thank you,
Sorry to hear it hasn't been resolved. I would definitely give Aastra a call/email. They have been very prompt in getting to the few problems I have encountered. The handset could definitely be the problem here, especially if you do not have this problem with the base unit. Also, eventhough the Aastra cordless handset normally works just fine for most people I use a standard cordless with ATA instead when cordless is needed... best of luck.
I still have not fixed it. I have one at work also running on trixbox and I I have not experienced the problem but I really don't use it much. I have been in touch with some of the higher ups at aastra regarding a different business issue and have mentioned it to them and they have all said that they work hard to ensure that there is full compatibility with asterisk and trixbox and it is not a known issue. I have upgraded to the new 2.6 and we'll see if it keeps happening. If anyone runs into this I would suggest trying to swap it out before the warranty is up. There must be something wrong out of the factory on occasion. Other then this and with all of the updated xml scripts I think the 480i CT and the 57i are the best phones for asterisk.
