Has anyone gotten the blind transfer funciton working on a 7970? I looked all over and haven't seen anyone actually get it - why is this so difficult?

Oh. do you press the ## during the call? I'm looking for a way to send callers direct to voicemail. Would it be ##*?

yea during a call. so as you

yea during a call. so as you are talking to someone you want to xfer it would be ##*(mailbox num). for example, for me: ##*4190

I see. Will the caller hear

I see. Will the caller hear tones? This is for our receptionist and needs to be polished, thats why i was hoping for a button that would place the caller on hold, let you enter the number, transfer the call and hang your end up.

I can't think of a worse

I can't think of a worse phone to use as a receptionist phone than a 797x.

I use one on my desk and I wouldn't use anything else however our admin would go insane if she had to use it do to lack of features.

I would highly recommend and Aastra, SNOM or Polycom with a sidecar. These phones support BLF's so she can see if someone is on the phone. They also support one touch transfer.

Just a thought.

Thing is, i cant spend any

Thing is, i cant spend any money. Got a bunch of phones for free, and this is the way it's playing out. I don't have much of a choice, and i really just need to grin and bear it. believe me, if i could've bought new phones, they wouldn't have been cisco. Really all it needs to do is answer and transfer calls. Not too heavy duty the plan was to use a sidecar on it, but that's SCCP only and i haven't even started to mess with it. Am i screwed as far as the blind xfer thing?

When ## is pushed the caller

When ## is pushed the caller starts to hear the moh music. Then after the *(mailbox ext) or just regular extension number is entered, the called is sent to that ext automatically, and the 7970 just hangs up (automatically).

I don't know why you think you are screwed, from the features you want, this seems to fit your needs exactly. This method of blind xfer functions literally exactly as how you described your needs.

No, the ## works fine. My

No, the ## works fine. My admin has never gotten the hang of it because the cadence has to be just right. You can modify the interdigit time in the config files.

If money is tight I still think you would be a world ahead if you picked up a Aastra 9133i on eBay, they are under $100.00 You would be so far ahead of the game from an operators perspective.

So just to make it clear it will work, however a dedicated function key eliminates operator error.

Never got it working here ---

Never got it working either, even though the 7960 & 7940 work fine from the Blind Xfer softkey. Once tried to get a case open with Cisco but my head hurt too much after a couple of conversations and attempting to move the CM information they were feeding me to the Asterisk box.
