GXP2000 - Phones Stop Registering Until IP Changes?

I'm running into an issue frequently with some GXP2000's I have. I am not sure if its the phone or trixbox, but generally, the phones register and work fine for a period of a few days or weeks. Then, suddenly, the phones stop being able receive and/or make calls. Reboot the phones and trixbox doesn't help, but strangely, changing the IP address of the phones fixes the problem immediately. This occurs with phones that are on the local subnet with the trixbox, as well as some that are behind a NAT, connecting out to the trixbox. Sometimes the issue occurs when asterisk is restarted, sometimes it occurs without "provocation."

Is this a trixbox or a phone issue? I am running trixbox 2.6, and the GXP2000s are using firmware 1.1.6.16 with bootloader 1.1.6.5. How can I troubleshoot this?

getting killed ...

customer suffered power spike and system killed hard, was trix2.0. of course they no longer have the ghost image from orig setup and no backups...on to a rebuild. I install ce2.6stable (cuz its supposed to be good) and system comes up sweet with rhino 4-port install and channel detection. system will pick up calls and run thru queues and such. Problem is: the extensions will not show up as registered, on handset or PBX stats. Nothing has changed and they are static ip. date and time are from xxx.timepool.gov and are correct so dns must be working. can ping from anywhere inside, phones are gxp2000 v2. I must be missing sumpthing. system was initially setup for pstn/sip use, but sip was dropped doe to QOS issues. Do I need a fake sip account/trunk for these to register with the system and start using pstn for calls? Been about a year since i touched one of these..
