bt200s disappearing from network

Hi, I have a big urgent problem in a network with 60 bt200 phones. They randomly disappear from the network.
If I reboot the phones they work normally until next problem, probably next day.

They are configured with a fixed ip address, and after disappearing from network, even if I disconnect the net cable from the switch and connect to a single pc with a crossover cable, the phone doesn't reply to ping phone's ip address that I can view from the display.

I using the latest version of Trixbox as PBX (2.6.1) with firmware and configuration provisioning via tftp and phones firmware is:

Product Model: BT200 (HW2.1A)
Part Number: 9620000721A
Software Version: Program-- 1.1.6.27 Bootloader-- 1.1.6.5

Must I go back to a previous firmware? Is it possible?

I runned a packet capture application onto the net gateway (a SonicWall Pro 2040) and noticed that the died phones continuosly make ARP request for the mac addres of the PBX.

Phones are present in the ARP cache of PBX. Seems that thay can't be reached by the ARP reply from PBX because their lan interface is disactivated al level 3 ISO/OSI but work at level 2 sending ARP requests.

Can you help me? Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards, Alberto Paglino

Is there a reason why you

Is there a reason why you have 60 phones on a network all using static IPs?
Tried using DHCP to see if you still have this problem? I'm not sure about the firmware version but I use several BT102's with no problem.

Ok, I putted static address

Ok, I putted static address on the phones because using DHCP, when phones loses ip address, they send ARP request with the same IP address of the PBX, sending completely down asterisk.

I discovered that the phones that die in the staus page have: "Product Model: BT200 (HW2.1A)"

some other phones have "Product Model: BT200 (HW1.1C)" and they are always alive!!!

Grandstream, please help me!

Many thanks for any help, Alberto.

If the phones is sending out

If the phones is sending out a layer two DHCP request it does not have an IP address yet and should not be sending out ARP messages.

Certainly something is very wrong if the phones are transmitting an ARP request from the MAC address of the phone with an IP that is not the phones.

You know, I like grandstream

You know, I like grandstream phones, I really do, but if you're going to have a lot of phones on a network (over 25) please don't use the budgetones. The late model GXP line (GXP-1200, GXP-2010, and GXP-2020) are much better all the way around and do not have these strange issues when you use many of them. The GXP-1200 is about $25 more than the budgetone 200 and will save you a lot of headache.

When you contact Grandstream technical support with a strange issue like this, please include a .pcap file with the network trace using wireshark (a free program). This helps the engineers fix the problems a lot quicker. As an example, the Grandstream software engineers were able to fix a problem I was having with dialog events within a couple of days (though I am still waiting on the software release) because I sent them a network trace of the communication between the phone and the server.
