Hi,
sorry for the noob question but I am new.
I am running a trixbox cce and I pluged some aastra phones (51i, 53i and 9133i) but the phones are not getting the settings from trixbox although under extensions->phones tab in the control panel they are created. If I manually edit the phone's settings and put as tftp trixbox's IP, everything works ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
George

DHCP or mDNS

The Aastra phones require a discovery mechanism to auto discover the IP address of the trixbox. You can configure DHCP option 66 to be tftp://ip.of.your.trixbox

You can also use mDNS. mDNSResponder can be installed from the package manager, and if I recall correctly, is installed and configured when you install aastra-xml-scripts from the package manager.

I think you'll need Aastra firmware 2.3.x or greater to use mDNS. You must also run setup-aastra-xml to create the necessary aastra.cfg in the /tftpboot directory for this to work. If you've already got an aastra.cfg file that you've tweaked, I'd make a backup copy of it and merge it with the one created by setup-aastra-xm.

Both of these options are discussed in the Aastra XML Scripts for trixbox CE document found at
