Hi,

We currently have several Aastra 9133i phones installed on our Trixbox Pro system - we are expereinceing a new teething issues with our current system - the main one at the moment is that periodically through out the day several of the phones will lose service - sometimes you can just pick up the handset and put it back down again and the phone will reconnect other times you ahve to actaully restart the phone - has anyone else experience this issue or does anyone else have a solution.

Regards
Jon

Jon, Smells like the PBX is

Jon,

Smells like the PBX is not the primary DNS server for the phones. Slow DNS will cause these exact symptoms. Try pointing the phones to the PBX for DNS to see if that resolves your problem.

Thanks,
Mike

Jon, With remote phones this

Jon,

With remote phones this gets a bit more tricky. You need some way to speed up DNS. You can do that by installing or configuring a high performance DNS server on the remote site, or you can 'hard code' the external IP address of your PBX into the phone.

IE:
Instead of: s1000.trixbox.fonality.com
use: 218.283.20.21

That way you aren't using DNS to look up the IP address at all, obviously this will not work if your external IP is dynamic...

Thanks,
Mike

That has worked - one last thing...

It appears that now both my internal and external phones are now connected to the service - however sometimes on the LCD the "No Service" still appears but the red light is not lit - all i need to do is pick up the handset and then put it down then the the LCD is displayed as normal - is there a reason for this - can it be resolved.

Hey Jon, Still smells like

Hey Jon,

Still smells like DNS troubles. Does this LCD stuff happen only locally or only remotely, or both?

Thanks,
Mike

Happens on both Remote & Local.

Yeh this appears to happen on both the Local & Remote phones.
