Hud and linux

I've read that you can only use HUD-lite on Linux, is this the case discounting virtualization (vmware, kvm, etc...)? Assuming that is the case, can HUD-lite connect to a HUD Pro Server? I am not an admin on the trixbox server, and before I go about trying to get my admin to ssh in and grab the password, and open the port, I'd like to make sure it can be done in the first place. Thanks in advanced for the help.

Hud Lite will NOT connect to a HUD Pro server, they use different backend protocols for communication.

HUD and linux

HUDlite can run on Linux, MAC, or Windows there are different version for each. HUDlite connects to the HUD server running on a trixbox CE system. If you have trixbox PRO you can use the HUDpro client.

Hope this clears up the confusion.

Is there a HUDpro client

Yes, I also need to know is there a HUDpro client for Linux? I'm OK with Alpha or Beta builds, but seriously do I have to have a Windows box or a Mac to connect to the office TrixBox pro? If there isn't one, are there any plans for one? And if there are not any plans for one, can you document the backend protocol so we can build one?

Thanx,
John

There is a build of the HUD3

There is a build of the HUD3 client for linux, although we are not sure if we will be releasing it when HUD3 is available. The backend protocol is a binary protocol and we will not be releasing that as an open standard.

Is there a beta testing program for the HUD3 Linux client that I can sign up for?

We do not know if we will

We do not know if we will release a HUD3 client for Linux at this time and no, IAX will not be added because SIP through firewalls is a configuration issue in almost all cases. We have thousands of systems installed with a large percentage having remote phones and we do not see very many issues with SIP when the firewalls are configured properly. IAX is also not an industry standard and there are no major brand devices that support it.

That is kind of a dumb

That is kind of a dumb attitude towards AIX - you are writing this software on the Asterisk platform, and yet will not support all the protocals that your platform is based off of.

You just lost 1 company with 12 remote branches from purchasing your product :(
