Zap TDM400 recognize failed call from phone company

Hello,

I am not sure exactly how to ask this as I don't know the correct terms.

But I was setting up some new zap lines today through Verizon and upon doing a test call I got the you don't have to dial a 1 before this number message..

But when I look at the call log CDR is says Answered.. So my question is ..

Is asterisk supposed to recognize failed calls like this or other types of failed calls from the phone company?

If so what settings should I be looking at to change?
