POS (Point of sale) with FXS, is it possible?
Sometimes yes it will work, sometimes no it depends on the unit you hook up it is a try N see type deal, I see about 50 / 50 and the ones that "work" fail more than when on POTS
even a pots line fail at times.
Most POS systems now days have both phone and Ethernet so if it has RJ45 look to use the net not the phone.
bubba's right, I wouldn't recommend using an analog PoS device on a SIP trunk. It's unreliable at best. Instead of trying to 'patch' the problem, advise your client to call their PoS provider, they usually have a trade-up program and should be able to replace their analog devices for ethernet or hybrid devices free of charge (in my case, the monthly bill went up 5$/month/PoS). Allowed me to cancel a POTS line which cost 25$/month... no SIP trunk required either and it's faster and more reliable than analog over SIP.
