Tapi and Receptionist Front desk software
Tekelec, sells hosted pbx's and software that works with it. Two softwares that I've used in a company that was using them for their pbx was:
1. The TAPI intergration with Outlook, that you would configure to point to your system and your ext and you would be able to dial from outlook.
2. Front Desk or Console Assistant, that allowed a receptionist to be able to have a software that would actually show a call, by clicking it would pick up the call through the phone, then she would be able to drag the call to a users's icon which showed if the user was available, and they would be able to annonce the trasfer, do a blind transfer or just send the call to a queue, park the call or directly to a voice mail.
I've looked to see if anyone's used it or if I can use the Tekelec's software but no go.
Any software creation or add on to the Tribox would make this software over a night a huge Buisness upgrade, and alternative to classic voip pbx systems.
We are developing a nice reception console that allows quick switching and transfer from server to server, so you can manage calls for multiple locations, or park a call on a remote server, almost complete in the testing phase. It is also skinable so you can customize to with company logo etc. Hope to add the ability to pull from openxml, mssql etc and speed dial contacts and pass calls also. "Get me someone, and get me someone while I am waiting" :-) Only real requirements are freepbx, and asterisk which trixbox has, tested on asterisk 1.2 and 1.4. http://www.ndbridge.com/newconsole.jpg
Take a look at Astassistant www.astassistant.com
It's freeware and will do most of what you are looking for.
Isymphony is a really good tool to use - it's alot more complex than Hud but a great front-desk tool.

The picture is very nice, and the idee is very good, your GUI and the programming with Astassistant should be great.
They import adress (speeddial) from the freepbx phonebook and outlook contact's
If you need some to test, mail me (I can test it on a vm based session, and on a combination off serverall production machienne's)
