utstarcom f1000g wireless phone any good?
Hello All,
Has anyone tried this WiFi phone with TB? Am I buying myself a headache if I'd buy one of these? I'd sure like to do all wireless phones for flexibility. I'm a novice at TB:-) It has a nice "look" to it,at a reasonable price but quality, functionality? I haven't read any reviews on it.
Comments?
Thanks,
Barry
Ive got one and while its the only wifi phone Ive ever tried, I'd say its rubbish.
It looks nasty, feels nasty, can only remember 4 sets of keys, hasn't got a particularly good battery, can be a pain to set up ....
I can't say what the alternatives are like, but I'd hope theres better out there.
My opinion: don't waste your money. This phone so bad I was afraid to sell it on eBay (want to keep good feedback), and it was of no use to me. I simply threw it away last week. It's a shame, because I could have given it to you to try. Check out my post at the link below for a review of a couple alternatives:

It was no different to set up than any other extension, what problem are you having, maybe its broken ?
Heres a guide that may help you.
How do I configure the F1000 over the web browser?
There are two versions of the F1000; B & G. Both use a different firmware, so make sure you are using the correct firmware for the correct phone. If you upgrade the "G" version with the "B" firmware, you will have to send it back to us (at your expense) to get it repaired.
Configuring your F1000 through your web browser interface is only possible with devices running at least firmware 3.68 or higher for the F1000/B model and the 2.70 for the G model.
You may check your firmware version by going into:
F1000: Menu -> Misc -> Vendor Information -> Version
If you have version 3.68 or higher (for the B model), you should follow these steps to configure your F1000/B by browser:
1. You need to find out the IP address the router has assigned the phone. If you know this, go to step 2. If not, you can look in the F1000 by going into:
F1000: MENU -> WiFi Settings -> Network Parameters -> Network Information
2. Enter the IP address of the F1000 into the address field of your web browser and press enter (Opera, Firefox, Camino/Safari, Explorer), for example http://192.168.1.2
3. You will see the login page of the phone. Login with the following:
User name: admin
Password: psw
4. Click on USER MENU and then on SIP and RTP Config
5. Enter the following information into the fields displayed:
SIP Proxy Domain Name: sipgate.co.uk
SIP register Domain Name: sipgate.co.uk
SIP Authentication stringer: Your SIP ID
SIP terminal user name: Your SIP ID
SIP terminal password: Your SIP password
Your SIP ID and SIP password may be found in your sipgate account under the tab marked My Data - Connection Information.
Please note, there is a difference when using upper and lower case!
Save and confirm changes by pressing "Submit".
6. Changes have now taken effect. Please click on "Reboot".
