QoS on Versalink?
Does anyone have QoS working on a Verizon Westell Versalink combined DSL modem/switch/wireless router? (Model 327)
I have pitifully slow Verizon DSL at home (864 down /160 up) but I thought I would try to set up a CE machine to connect to my office CE machine.
With this lousy bandwith, I'll need some way to keep the kids from killing my calls.
The little Versalink that Verizon gave me seems surprisingly configurable. It doesn't seem to have a good reputation but it hasn't given me much trouble in two years. It allows QoS by using "Assured Forwarding" to specific ethernet ports. However, before I go the trouble to set up a CE machine, I'd like to know if anyone has had any luck with it.
Not that I know of. The only thing you can do is buy a QOS router that works or use another old computer of yours as your firewall (pfSense), and turn on QOS from there. You can *try* using g729 to compress your calls- but that's only if you have a strong CPU, and I'm not going to guarantee it will work most of the time.
