2.6.x on Via C7 chip?

Anyone got 2.6 running on a Via C7 chip (those nice low power intel-clone CPUs)?

We have several systems running 2.4 with no problem and are now trying 2.6. So far, it seems to lock up after an hour or so (while doing nothing in particular - we've barely started to configure it). We noticed CPU hit 100% for a while before it died, but have only just begun to instrument/watch for it happening again.

Any clues / suggestions? Does anyone have a similar config running?

thx, michael
PS: Typical config explained here: http://trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/share-your-trixbox-succe...

I've built a few systems on

I've built a few systems on some Jetway Mini ITX boards with 1.5Ghz processor in the same cases with standard SATA hd's and Trixbox 2.4. I've had some instability issues with these installs. I've seen occasional 100% cpu usage not always accompanied by a system crash.

I've also seen the occasional so far unexplained kernel panic's. Most of these issues have so far been attributed to hardware and external factors such as power supplies and a hard drive failure.

I've got one spare system currently and will try a 2.6 install on it if that will help.

Cheers

Kevin

A watched trixbox ...

We rebooted and started monitoring it - and its been going days now with no problems. So fingers crossed it was just part of the box 'getting settled' .... hmmm.

Thanks for the offer Kevin. If we have more problems we'll update this thread, but so far so good!

cheers, michael

I am running Trixbox on a VIA C7 motherboard too

I am running version 2.6.0.7 and I have had continuous crash of the system without any information on log files.
The same version on other processors worked without problems.

I noticed that disabling the munin-node service gives more stability to the system based on Via C7 processor.

Now it is running from a week without crashing any more.

Did you had similar experiences? How have you resolved the problem?

Many thanks for any help, Alberto.

I have since given up on 2.6

I have since given up on 2.6 on the C7. After 3 crashes in one week, I'm going back to 2.2.12.

Maybe its time to start looking past the C7 on future installs. Very disappointing.

Installed anyway

I installed TB 2.6.0.7 on the previously described system anyway as I needed a CentOS 5 install on it anyway and it's been running although not in use as a phone system for nearly two weeks now without incident.

Cheers

To see past C7,

Perhaps checkout Intels low power D201GLY2, theyve been running for months (could be more than 6-8 months), have NOT hit a any serious problem.
