Hi... We're looking for a good wireless phone solution as the Aastra SIP-DECT 142 didn't work out too great for us. Does anyone know if the Cisco 7920 and 7921g wireless phones will work with asterisk. I haven't been able to find a lot of documentation on them, or if they support SIP.

Thanks,
Jeremy Rich

Wireless phone solution?

Mr. Rich,
Have you found a good wireless solution yet? I'm looking seriously at the SIP-DECT solution, and wonder how it failed for you.

I haven't seen anything else (at least on paper) that supports as large a network as the Aastra RFP system is purported to do.

Thanks,

Sorry I have not been active

Sorry I have not been active on these forums lately. I hope you did not waste your money on the Aastra solution, I have 7 of these phones on my desk broken right now. I am still looking for a better solution, and am about to deploy wireless throughout the entire facility.

Wifi Phones

Hi

The Cisco 7920 work fine on Trixbox we have a number of sites with cisco 7720's deployed. They are actually quite good with TB, because of their xml scrpting which allows you to access global & local phonebook directories, rss feeds, helps, ringtone, etc. The only issue is that they only support the sccp firmware, and you will need an sccp image higher than version 2 (as 1.08 & 1.09 don't work with asterisk well), aswell as an sccp module installed on TB. Here's the wiki post to install sccp on 2.6 http://www.trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/trixbox-endpoints/ch...

There are other wifi phones around but i found these to be the most featured.

Hope it helps
