trixbox CE VMWare Image Available - Please test

It is still heading out to mirrors right now but we have released a new VMWare image for trixbox CE 2.6.1. that is optimized for VMWare. The image is known to work well on the latest versions of the VMWare Player and Workstation but not on VMWare Server 1.x as it does not provide some of the features we used to make the image.

This should be a significant improvement over vmware images in the past but we need people to test it on a variety of systems and let us know how it works.

The best way to get it is to check the SF mirrors. As soon as we get enough feedback I will move it to the official downloads page. Thanks.

Can't login to check packages

I tried the VMWare image under the latest version of the VMWare Player.
Most of it seems to work, but when I try to login to trixbox.org so I can use the Package Manager, the login fails. Is this an error, or by design? I'm certain the username and password are being entered correctly...

Related Question: I tried a yum update; there were 117 updates and 7 new installs offered. Will installing all of these in the virtual machine break any of the optimizations you have done to make it work properly?

Same problem here. I'm not

Same problem here. I'm not able to login in the Package Manager. At first, I taugh it was a problem with my Firefox (I switched for the verions 2) but I got the same problem with IE.
Any solution?

ASTERISK STOPPED

Hi there, I installed Asterisk@Home Version 2.2.18, did all the configurations and it was working really well. I configured all the Extensions and was communicating well. Unfortunately, after some time, I realized that Asterisk had stopped. I therefore did Service Asterisk Restart but the system never told me that asterisk was running. It gave UNKNOWN instead of Running. What should I do to resolve this, since I have kept on reinstalling but it keeps failing after sometime.

Not sure what Asterisk@Home

Not sure what Asterisk@Home 2.2 has to do with a VMWare image for trixbox 2.6.1. I would suggest starting a new thread in the Help section about that.

my config .host system:

my config
.host system: vista
.vmware player: 2.0.4
.trixbox vmware: 2.6.1
.objective: tested vmware image 2.6.0.1. so far so good. grabbed 2.6.1 image which promised to be optimized for vmware. so tested that in stead. Want to use it as such: a lab environment

Can't access the package manager. Tried to login with trixbox forum credentials several times. I'm sure I entered user & passw info correctly.

Created an iax2 extension for zoiper. Configured zoiper to register. CLI shows zoiper registers ok. Dialed *98 (voicemail). De recording is played back but then dies. CLI shows the call is still in progress ( the files being played are shown) but there's no sound. After dialing *98 several times asterisk does not answer the call (no output in CLI).

The web gui sometimes times out for some reason. A second or third refresh does load the page though.

Tried a yum update (somebody told me to and that it would resolve above issue but could not exactly explain why. Did it anyway). It did not resolve the issues.

Booted 2.6.0.1 vmware image: It did not display the issues I had with 2.6.1.

Known issues?

Package Manager login

I had the same issue... Kerry pointed out in an earlier posting that the issue is usually DNS / gateway related. In my case, going to System / Network, selecting "Edit Network Parameters", then selecting "use openDNS" resolved this for me, and I was able to login to package manager without any further problems.

Hope this helps...
